Extension of the contract with Veolia for the use of Marchwood Energy from Waste facility to August 2021

Decision

The DWP Joint Committee of 14 December 2015 resolved that an extension of the contract with Veolia for the use of Marchwood Energy from Waste facility to August 2021 be approved and that authority be delegated to the Director of the DWP, in consultation with the chair of Joint Committee, to award contract and agree terms.

 

Arrangements to increase the term of the contract to the expiry date of the planning permission at their place of transfer to Marchwood in Hampshire have been agreed to expire 30 March 2020 when the current permission for waste transfer ends.

 

Reason

To secure waste disposal arrangements to fulfil the statutory duty on behalf of the Waste Disposal Authority in a cost-effective manner.

 

Options

Financial assessment of alternatives showed offer by Veolia was the most cost effective for the Authority for service continuity
